This years Foster Care Fortnight theme is Fostering Communities. We are so proud to be a part of the fostering community, and we spoke to members of the Family Fostering Partners Team to ask them what being part of the fostering community means to them…
Managing director Judith explained that “Fostering is incredibly rewarding – but it is never easy, and that’s why fostering communities are so important.” Anyone who fosters with Family Fostering Partners can expect to be surrounded by a fostering community that offers support and encouragement to one another. “Together, as a team, we are stronger and better. We can support each other, encourage each other, and celebrate together to make fostering the best job in the world.”
Our fantastic Link Worker Carly adds ‘To me, fostering communities means everybody working together to achieve the best possible outcomes for the children in our care – that’s our foster parents, link workers, everyone!”
Whilst it’s incredibly important to work together as part of a community, Commercial Manager Curon recognises the uniqueness of the needs of looked after children, and the importance of working together to support them. “Fostering Communities” is about building a community that values the unique needs and experiences of children who are looked after, ensuring they have the love, stability, and opportunities to allow them to succeed and thrive.” He adds “It's about creating a sense of belonging, acceptance, and inclusivity, where diverse perspectives are valued and celebrated, and it’s a commitment to building strong social bonds and nurturing a sense of shared responsibility, ultimately leading to a happier, healthier, and more resilient society.”
