Team Family Fostering Partners goes Dragon Boat Racing
Hot from our success at Gung Ho, Family Fostering Partners fielded a strong team of both staff and foster carers to compete in the Welsh Dragon Boat Championship. (The combined age of our team was over 700!!!). This was one of a series of events that has raised a significant amount of money for the Paul Satori Foundation, a local cancer charity which is well supported in Pembrokeshire.
Our strategy was to lull the competition into a false sense of security – think tortoise and hare. This appeared to work with Family Fostering Partners being the only team whose performance improved heat on heat – even when the head wind turned against us.
This led to us being awarded the trophy for the “Most Improved Team”. Team Family Fostering Partners finished a respectable 9th out of a strong field of 18, not bad given our combined age.
It was a fantastic day out – everyone had smiles on their faces – although some rediscovered muscles, ones that had been unused for many years! Total amount raised for the Paul Satori Foundation will be confirmed in a special event on the 29th of June when Family Fostering Partners will be present to receive their trophy!!!
The event drew a large crowd from the surrounding areas of Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion, all the areas where we are recruiting foster carers, so it was a great opportunity to show how fostering with the right foster care agency can be fun.
