Foster Parent Application FAQs

What Are the Requirements to Apply for Foster Care? 

To become a foster parent, you must: 

  • Be at least 21 years old. 
  • Have a spare room in your home. 

You don’t need prior child care experience or qualifications – we’ll provide you with all of the training that you’ll need! We asked our foster parents what skills they thought a foster parent needs to have; patience, empathy and a sense of humour were the resounding replies! How Long Does the Foster Application Process Take? 

The fostering application process usually takes around four months, starting from your initial inquiry to the moment you’re approved. This thorough process includes interviews, training sessions, home visits, background checks, and references. While it’s a detailed journey, it ensures you’re fully prepared to embark on this rewarding role. 

 

Are You an Experienced Foster Parent Looking to Transfer? 

If you’re already an approved foster parent and are considering transferring to Family Fostering Partners, we’re here to make the process straightforward. We’ll work with your current provider to ensure a smooth transition while maintaining continuity of care for any children in your home. Please be assured, we’re here to support you every step of the way.
