A Charity Shop Takeover with Heart: Giving Back and Raising Awareness of Fostering in Wales

As part of our 10 Challenges for 10 Years campaign, the team at Family Fostering Partners recently took part in event close to our hearts; a Charity Shop Takeover at the Tŷ Hafan charity shop in Llanelli. Each member of our team donated 10 items — from pre-loved clothes and homeware to books and toys — and rolled up our sleeves to help sell our items and raise money for Ty Hafan.

Sparking Conversations That Matter about Fostering in Wales

Throughout the day, we had dozens of meaningful conversations with shoppers who were curious about fostering in Wales. Many people were surprised to learn how many different types of fostering exist, or that it’s possible to foster while working, renting, or parenting your own children. A few even left with more than just a great charity shop bargain — they took home a leaflet, our contact details, and perhaps the idea for a new chapter.

We know that taking the first step into fostering in Wales can be daunting. But through community-centred events like this one, we hope to show that fostering in Wales is not only possible — it’s deeply rewarding. At Family Fostering Partners, we are always ready to support you throughout every step of your fostering journey.

10 Challenges for 10 Years

This Charity Shop Takeover was just one of our challenges to celebrate 10 Years of Family Fostering Partners. This challenge reflects the values we hold dear at Family Fostering Partners: compassion, community, and commitment to making a difference. That is why we champion the work that Ty Hafan do – not only do they embody these same values, but the work they do is indescribably important.
