Discussing Fostering in Wales at the Royal Welsh Show

Every year, our team travels across Wales, attending shows, events, fairs, and carnivals to talk with individuals and families about the rewarding experience of fostering in Wales. These events provide a unique opportunity to enjoy fresh air while discussing the vital role foster care plays in our communities.

One event we never miss is the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show in Builth Wells, Powys. As the largest agricultural show in Wales, the Royal Welsh draws attendees from all corners of the country. This diverse gathering allows us to discuss becoming a foster carer in Wales with people from each county and region of this nation.

Discussing Fostering in Cardiff whilst at the Royal Welsh

As already mentioned, the Royal Welsh Show attracts visitors from across the country, A prime example of this was when the Cardiff Blues mascot (Bruiser Bear) stopped by our stall to play our new game.

As can be seen in our pictures Bruiser Bear loved visiting our stall and playing our new cornhole game. While mascots might not be eligible to foster, the geographic diversity of the Royal Welsh attendees meant that we had plenty of conversations with individuals from the capital who were interested in fostering in Cardiff.

Farming Whilst Fostering in Wales

As a local foster care agency which began, initially, only supporting those fostering in Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire we have a long history of attending farming shows and events. As we’ve grown, we have continued our commitment to supporting rural shows and agricultural events.

This means that, despite having amazing foster carers and fostering families in cities such as Cardiff, Swansea, and Newport, we still remember and appreciate the important role that farming communities play in providing safe and loving homes to children.

Farming and fostering are perfectly matched, farming families often have the spare bedroom and extra space needed to provide a safe, welcoming home for a child.

Past and Future Farming Events Across Wales

We’ve proudly attended agricultural shows across South Wales, speaking with people about becoming a foster carer from Monmouthshire to Pembrokeshire! This reflects both the widespread need for foster carers throughout Wales and our commitment to engaging with the farming community. Their involvement is crucial in addressing the growing demand for foster families across the nation. Unfortunately, there remains a desperate need for more fostering families across the whole of Wales with the latest data showing Wales needs an extra 800 foster households over the next two years.

How to find our next event

In addition to agricultural and farming events, we also participate in a variety of other shows across Wales. Recently, we’ve supported events like the Carmarthenshire Balloon Show, Swansea Air Show, and the Eisteddfod. If you know of an event where we should be present to discuss fostering, please reach out—we’re always on the lookout for new and exciting opportunities.

To stay informed about our upcoming events, follow us on Facebook, where we regularly post updates on where you can find us next.

The Importance of Shows & Events for Fostering in Wales

In today’s digital age, you might wonder why we still prioritise using local events to discuss becoming a foster carer in Wales. The answer is simple: nothing compares to the power of face-to-face interaction. Engaging directly with people allows us to answer questions in real-time and have meaningful conversations about the importance of fostering in Wales.
