Most of our foster parents tell us that they have thought about it for years before making the decision to take a first step towards fostering, and we can truly understand the reasons why families wait so long before deciding they are ready to learn more. There are probably a million reasons why you might think you can’t, or shouldn’t foster, but we are willing to bet that you will spend far less time thinking about the unique qualities your family has that mean you could, and should, foster! Just caring enough to be curious, and to think about offering a family home to children who need your help is all the reason you need to take the first step.
Once you have taken the plunge and gathered the courage to pick up a phone or speak with us online, the way ahead will become much clearer, and so many of our foster parents tell us that their only regret is that they did not start fostering sooner. It honestly is one of the best and most rewarding careers you could have.
So whatever push you may need to take the next step, all you need to think about is whether you have a spare bedroom, (it doesn’t need to be huge!) and whether you have the right qualities to make a difference.
Be brave and get in touch – before you talk yourself out of it again.
We can answer any questions or worries you may have and are always pleased to offer advice and support to potential foster parents. The process to apply is simple and we hold your hand through the assessment and the training to make sure you feel ready to become part of Family Fostering Partners. You will look back in a year’s time and wonder why you were so nervous!
