The dragon roars again!

On the 28th of May 2018, staff and carers from Family Fostering Partners took part in their second  Welsh Dragon Boat Race Championship- an event which if fast becoming a firm favourite.

The team was ably supported by a 40 strong crowd of friends, family, birth and foster children who all turned up to cheer us on.

The weather looked ominous first thing in the morning and the forecast was not the best, but much to our delight, the sun decided to make an appearance early on and the day turned out to be hot and sunny with many amongst us diving for the Factor 30.

Our Event Tent, filled with refreshments for hungry and thirsty sailors was pitched in the midst of the action and provided shelter from those who wanted to escape the hot sun.

The team rowed in 4 heats in a strong field of 14 crew. Once again, this year, as in last, Family Fostering Partners found their rhythm with each heat, consistently improving on their time score to finish a very respectable 6th place - an improvement of 3 places on 2016. Some might argue that this improvement was the result of having a female captain who was not afraid to bellow and shout to inspire her team!

The smiles on everyone’s faces was evidence that once again the Dragon Boat Festival provided a fantastic day out, with an opportunity for our fostering families to relax, enjoy the company and occasionally hit out at each other with oars!!
