Instead, we’re looking for individuals who can provide a stable and nurturing environment for children.

As part of the assessment process for this foster care job, we provide comprehensive training to ensure you’re prepared for your role. Our “Skills to Foster” course is an excellent starting point and covers everything you need to know to begin fostering with confidence. We provide this training to our prospective foster parents during the assessment process. Once approved as a foster parent, you’ll be given a personalised training and development plan. Experience working with children or young people can be beneficial when seeking a foster care job, but it’s not a requirement. Many of our foster carers come from diverse backgrounds, including healthcare, education, retail, or hospitality. What matters most is your ability to connect with children, show empathy, and provide a safe home.

If you’ve raised your own children or supported family members, this experience is highly valuable. During the assessment process, our team will help you identify transferable skills that you can use in your foster care job; skills that align with the needs of fostering.
Childcare experience is helpful but not essential. At Family Fostering Partners, we believe that fostering is a journey of learning and growth. When you embark on your foster care job, our training program, peer support groups, support packages and dedicated Link Workers will be there to guide you every step of the way.
If you’re entirely new to fostering or haven’t worked in a foster care job before, don’t worry. We provide resources and ongoing support to help you build confidence and develop the skills needed to care for children and young people effectively.
